One of the best decisions early in my design career was embracing a generalist approach. By exploring various disciplines, I gained valuable insights into my passions. This allowed me to tackle diverse tasks, keeping work interesting and avoiding monotony.

  • @ramiroruiz Amen. I'm learning this lesson a bit late—I got stuck in one niche and am just now trying to diversify. But I've always liked the idea from The Universal Principles of Design that we're supposed to be "eclectic generalists."

What disciplines have you found most interesting/useful?

  • @bsebesta Love eclectic generalist! Lucky interests turned useful: print, editorial design, image editing, CSS, HTML, JS, PHP for web design, custom WP templates. While freelancing in branding. A diverse journey plus helping marketing & product teams makes me happy!
